I've moved!

This is no longer my blog's home... you can now find it here! And be sure to update, cause the link has changed ;)

Also wanna give a HUGE thank you to the ever-so-patient TJ Cameron for getting me set up/guiding me through the process.

I am still playing around with it, so leave me a comment or throw me an email and let me know what you think!

rainy day/sunny day

all in one day... crazy weather went from cold & rainy (hence the fur lined jacket) to warm and sunny all in a matter of an hour and a half. Gotta love the NW and a lovely family that will stick it out with me ;)

almost 2 years...

It has been almost two years since I last photographed these clients. And, wow. It is crazy how quickly things change. Really it is one of the best parts of my job though. Watching the kids grow, getting to know the family, to see them go from here to here...

wrong side of the camera...

Every once in a while I get the pleasure of photographing a fellow photographer. This time I got the lovely and super talented Michelle Moore in front of my lens. I've always loved what she does and been completely impressed by her work behind the camera. Apparently, however, she can work the other side of the camera just as well... We had so much fun wandering, shooting, goofing off, taking some pictures here and there ;) I had a hard time narrowing this one down. As you can see, she has a tough time taking a bad shot...

sunshine...

I am so glad to see the sunshine and weather starting to warm up. That means more shooting, more fun and less rescheduling (fingers crossed). We had a beautiful day last weekend so we headed over to Alberta to wander... explore... eat donuts ;) These kids had other ideas about what would be fun to do for the day (taking pictures wasn't one of them- haha) but they were such little troopers and ended up being excellent little models. Thanks for playing guys, it was fun :)

stories...

I get to know the families I photograph pretty well. We spend a whole afternoon or morning together playing, talking... a lot of families do this at least once a year. I love to hear their stories. Funny stories, love stories, each and every one so unique. It isn't very often though, that a story will bring me to tears. This families story was so amazing and beautiful. They went from infertility to finding the perfect little piece to their family half a world away... only to be twice blessed when they found out right after being matched with their chosen little girl, that they were expecting another one as well! Two little beautiful girls arriving within months of each other... one from China and one a miracle right here at home. Hearing the stories of the lives of these little girls in China... wow. How lucky and beautiful this little girl was brought into their lives... heartwrenching and lovely all at the same time.

I wanted to share a little snip-it of an email the family wrote to me...

"As you can imagine, having 2 new girls in our family this year has
made things a little busy around our house. We've been so impressed by
Emi's energy and optimism. She just turned 3 1/2 last week and has so
much personality packed into that little 22 lb. body. She fits into
our family like she's always belonged and took charge of her older
brothers from the very first week she met them in Wuhan.

It's difficult to imagine what little hope her life would have had if
we hadn't found her, but now that she's here, it's just as difficult
to imagine our lives without her. Our decision to adopt was one of the
most significant choices we'll ever make. It's a decision that will
impact generations to come."

I had such a fabulous time with you guys. Your boys were so fun, full of personality. It was a joy to be around so much love. Thank you guys for telling your story and allowing me to document it... ;)

healing...

"To the world you may be one person, but to that one person you may be the world."

This shoot, for me, was such a needed reminder what gifts life gives us. It was a healing session. I'm always talking about how pictures can mean the world to a family. For me, this picture of this grandfather and his brand new grandson means the world. It is amazing how one little life can remind us how amazing this world can be. The happiness, the love, the hope...

Welcome to the world little guy ;)

a new model :)

This girly was SO fun to shoot. Tons of personality/up for anything... and I have to say, there are some good genes running in this family. She is the big sister to this one. Beautiful girls- inside and out :) Such a pleasure to work with. Thanks so much for letting me play J! Check her out ;)

my favorite little model...

is back :) A few of us photographers got together (Kathy, Willow, Kristy and I) and came up with a little challenge. We made a list of objects, picked three randomly and have to use them all in a photo shoot... The winners: a dog, knee highs and a cane- in my case a candy cane ;) I thought I would double up though and get my little model's Valentine's pictures done at the same time and this is what I came up with...

*these really are knee highs. The little stinker pulled them all the way up and I didn't catch it ;)

Okay girls... time to post your images!
