What can I say about this girl? She is beautiful, talented, artistic, kind, funny, a killer roommate... The list goes on and on ;) It was such an honor and so fun to go out and play and be able to take some shots of her. Our goal was to get some images for her new website that she just launched. Without further ado...
I was in Portland yesterday shooting my wreckless girl...
A man in a VW bus pulls to the side of the road and walks up to us. He has a camera in hand and comes over to hand it to me. I am thinking 'he wants me to take his picture'. But no... he hands it to me and asks if I would like to have it. He tells me how it was his grandfather's camera. He inherited it. He has had it and he saw me taking pictures and imagined that I would enjoy it. He showed me how to load the film, hugged me and walked away. Leaving me there with a smile on my face and a renewed sense of faith in the kindness of strangers.

I snuck one more session in this year :) Had to get in baby's first Christmas...
Well, I made it... just a couple more orders to deliver and I am done for the year :D No more new sessions to share so I thought I would throw out random goodies here and there...

A dear friend/fellow photographer (check out her site here) has been wanting me to do her family pictures and I have really been wanting to do a shoot at a Christmas tree farm. They needed a tree and we had a nice weekend, so we bundled everyone up and headed out! This is really the first time that I have done a family outing/day in the life shoot for anyone but my own family and I love how it turned out. The ideas/inspiration just kept coming. I think I could have shot all day... okay, maybe we did ;)

and in this case, I would say probably a last as well ;) Don't get me wrong, I love animals. I mean LOVE animals- big, small, in this case- scaley... but getting within five feet of this one? yeah, not so much (insert shivers and cold sweat). Our model, on the other hand, was a pro. She had them wrapped around her little finger (and everything else). This shoot was set up by the lovely Kathy Carlisle of Heaven's Eye Photography. She invited Shyla and I over to play (check out their blogs for way more amazing stuff!)...

This family makes me smile. They have been with me forever (well, forever in photography business years) and they are just wonderful, down to earth people.
We took a hot chocolate break during our session to warm up and the dad was staring, smiling at his kids and says 'aren't they sooo cute?'. I don't think it was said as a real question. He didn't need an answer (I mean it's pretty obvious right?? haha) It was said in complete awe of them. He is completely head over heels and I absolutely love that. To be able to witness that, capture that and grow to know these people over the years... yeah, I got a pretty cool job ;)
What do you do when it is time to order your Christmas cards but you just don't have the right images? You have a shoot of course ;) We just waited for a rainy day, grabbed an umbrella and went out and played for a few minutes. Voilà- Christmas card pictures...
Senior season is over :( It ended on a great note though. We had fun just wandering around NW Portland, stopping and shooting whatever struck us...
A friend/fellow photographer just had her baby girl a couple of weeks ago and I had the pleasure of doing her newborn shoot! Such a precious little girl and so good. What a lucky mama to get her all the time and capture all that sweetness whenever she wants ;)
